Display Team Patches

Thunder Tiger, Taiwanese Air Force

Actual size : 125mm x 90mm.
Notes : Original design, current-issue patch, velcro-backed. Also made in a somewhat smaller size as a cap badge. Although this is a fairly modern example of the team patch, it is likely that the actual design dates back to the 1950's.

Actual size : 105mm diameter.
Notes : In 1988, the responsibility for the public aerial demonstration team was transferred to the Air Force Academy and converted on to the indigenous AT-3 aircraft. Initially, the "new" team did not take the Thunder Tiger name, but instead were just called "Aerobatic Team". At that time, they also adopted this new logo/patch - nameless, but reflecting the colour scheme of their new aircraft. However, in 1990, they re-adopted the Thunder Tiger name and reverted to their original design logo/patch (left).

Actual size : 90mm x 125mm.
Notes : Sleeve patch, worn by the pilots on their right shoulder. The script at the bottom says "Aerobatic Team".
Actual size : 88mm x 120mm.
Notes : Sleeve patch, worn by the groundcrew on their right shoulder. "AT-3" is the aircraft used by the team since 1988.

Actual size : 95mm x 85mm.
Notes : Sleeve patch, worn by individual pilots on their left shoulder. The aircraft in red denotes the pilot's position in the formation - this particular patch is for the Leader.
