Scale ModelWorld 2010

To celebrate the Golden Anniversary of two of the world's major teams, we developed an elaborate "flying display" for our SMW2010 display stand.

The display features a complete history of both teams, with all the different aircraft they have flown during their 50 years - and flying over them, formations of each team, making smoke !

Each formation is flying out of a background image, thus recreating historical photographs of the teams : The Frecce Tricolori Fiat G.91's are overflying the Vittorio Emanuele Monument in Rome (often commonly referred to as "the Wedding Cake"), while the Blue Impulse Sabres have the impressive Mount Fuji as their backdrop.

The whole display was presented on an area of approximately 18 feet x 4.5 feet (5.8m x 1.5m) of table space. A total of 143 models are on the entire display : Thirteen in 1/48th scale, one in 1/8th scale (!) and the remainder in 1/72nd scale.
